About Me

Theresa: Middletown, Delaware, United States; Needlework, in almost every form, is my life's passion. After the death of my husband in 2004, I really immersed myself in my needlework, not only in the stitching but in designing as well. I have to say that my stitching was my therapy and helped me through the grieving process. When I decided to start designing professionally I chose the name "Heart's Ease Examplar Workes" --heartsease, for the wonderful little wild pansy, as well as for the "heart's ease" that stitching gives to my soul. A Maryland Inspiration -- Received the Frank Lloyd Wright Award for Outstanding Original Design at the 49th Annual Woodlawn Plantation Needlework Exhibit

Several years ago I attended a sampler exhibit in Baltimore at the Maryland Historical Society. You may be familiar with the book "A Maryland Sampling" by Gloria Seaman Allen, from which the exhibit was based. Although all the samplers were wonderful, there was one in particular that just fascinated me. I always knew I would design a sampler inspired by that beautiful piece.
